Imran’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. As a former patent examiner at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), he has many years of patent search and examination experience for both national and international (PCT) patent applications. As such, Imran is familiar with CIPO’s framework for assessing software applications and uses this expertise in preparing and prosecuting software patent applications. He is also knowledgeable and experienced in other high technology areas such as telecommunication networks and electronic devices.

Prior to CIPO, Imran held diverse positions at Industry Canada (Broadband Canada Program), Nortel Networks (Network Engineering), Canada Revenue Agency (IT Branch), and Bell Canada (Internet Services). He draws upon this practical experience to aid clients in securing valuable intellectual property rights.

Imran obtained his Electrical Engineering degree from Carleton University in Ottawa with a specialization in telecommunications. He holds a French language certification.
